Just a few words to say that I am a woman of a certain age, 60 to be precise, who has recently stepped into the world.
Three decades ago I took the decision to be a stay-at-home mom and raised two boys. I enriched my days by learning from my children, taking courses on herbal medicine, reflexology, cookery and gardening. There was also a drawer in which I housed my writing. It felt like a sleeping giant brooding, awaiting the kiss of life.
I would call that ‘kiss’ my decision to claim a new life in the world. I have recently returned from a 6 week trip to Montevideo, Uruguay. It was more than I had ever expected it would be. It’s never easy to break the mould and challenge the expectations of those around you, but for me it was as essential as breathing.
And so it is true that life can begin anew wherever and whenever you decide. You know that old Sufi saying: “If you take a step towards your destiny, your destiny takes three steps towards you.” Just give it a whirl.
